Travelling from Ireland to our wedding will involve a flight to Athens and ferry from the Athens port (called Piraeus) to the beautiful island of Sifnos. Flights to Athens A number of companies operate direct flights to Athens (Ryanair, Aegean Airlines, Aer Lingus). Ferries to Sifnos Faster ferries are now available to book here: <a href="https://www.ferryhopper.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://www.ferryhopper.com/</a> with some slower ferry options becoming available in the next few months. How to get to the Port: Please see this very useful article that explains several options: <a href="https://www.ferryhopper.com/en/destinations/greece/piraeus#:~:text=How%20do%20I%20get%20to%20the%20port%20of%20Piraeus?" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">How to get to the Port of Piraeus</a> We would recommend all our guests plan their ferry to the island on or before the 16th because on rare occasions, ferries might not run if there are high winds. It's always better to be a day earlier to be safe :)

Travel

The season on Greek islands runs from November 1st - October 31st so accommodation on the island for 2026 is now opening up. Some hotel/studios don't accept bookings until January 2026, so there will be more options coming up then. Where on the island should we be staying? Both the wedding venue and the day 2 party venue are located in <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/Khtao5pQ3hVuJdua6" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Platis Gialos (Sifnos)</a>. Platis Gialos is one of the largest sandy beaches on the island and it has some beautiful beach bars and restaurants. This is the ideal place to stay, as everything will be walking distance. If you are interested in renting a car, an alternative option would be Apollonia (the main town of the island). Apollonia is located in the middle of the island, a 12 minute drive from Platis Gialos.
